Welcome to yet another issue of my lil wicked tabloid. I for one never thought a 2nd issue would see light of day, I had laid my publishing career to rest and actually was quite uneasy about starting this whole thing up again due to lack of hard/net and economics it became hard/impossible to accomplish the requested stuff and more frequent releases on schedule. Hopefully it won't get me in the same situation again - at least I will try to avoid such horror by get the 3rd ish in the works a.s.a.p. and should have it out on the streets early 1993.

With the 3rd ish WTME should expand slightly, with an addition of a few pages and some treats like artwork stickers and poster to go. But still it will be a while before you see WELCOME TO MY EYES with full color cvr and the likes. Future issues of WTME will most likely also spot some more known and established bands along with the exciting, up and coming acts.

On the artistical side I wanna give everything depth and thoughtful (what ever that might mean...) than what you'll feel most of the dark and bizarre zines lack right now. It's harsh kind of job requiring energy - an xerox copies/samples of your anticipated demos, reviews and other publications/help will be most appreciated.

As for now, it's about time to split. Hope you will find WELCOME TO MY EYES to be an informative and interesting read. And do give these excellent acts featured your support.

Revitalizing the Wicked: A New Chapter in Underground Publishing

SACRIFICIAL, who released their debut demo "Lords Of Torment" quite a while ago wasn't a band I had expected very much from. But fortunately the four rehearsal tracks I had gotten in advance proved me to be wrong. As this debut brings seven snippets of hard driving death metal, sounding more or less ordinary but done with a clear personal edge to them, the band still as I can well agree there's two grow to go as musicians but still these tracks work out greatly. By mixing through clear light rhythmics and your own heavy tone by building up the tracks, every song goes with the true & effective ones overbuilt lines it leaves just a stunning experience. The production, mastered by Jacob Hansen (INVOCATOR family) gives the whole another standards and the cover artwork is good, Sorely these guys are self-financed, which makes it harder - but thus shows honest dedication to their musically effective style. For hard work and effort thereforth is worth looking out for, if they can manage to progress as much in the coming years as they have done in the few last years we should have something to look forward to.

WIME: As usual, please start off with telling who you guys are and what this band started & for how long have SACRIFICIAL been in existence?
KREN: Yeah, I'm Kren, 21 years old. I play guitar in SACRIFICIAL, 21 years old. And I'm in nice you of course - Hansen our like the folks. Michael guests, our friend kid brother, is 18 years old and my kid brother's. He's the drummer in our band. Mike plays bass guitar, he's 19 years old, a funny young fellow. Thomas on Playing duties with Peter behind the drums hes him Mark. We're all into this playing, same passion that we have, doing now for 4 years.

WIME: What about the band 2 years into it. Have you released any demos before?
KREN: No, this is our debut demo. We've released only the demo and it's 58 minutes! Wasn't their second demo the song through coming really fast in our rehearsals?

bad about it yet, so I guess it's ok. Well, now we've just thrown out our old bass player, so we hope for a steady line-up with Asmus now.

WIME: Your debut demo "Lords Of Torment" have been out for some time by now, so how have the response been? Is it selling ok?
KREN: Yeah, it's been out since February '92 and as I mentioned before - we have gotten incredible response like I'll not only a few of the mags we've sent it to are from and they all very fat, we had nothing but good reviews so far. We've sold about 200 copies so far and the response is pretty ok with all those demo's we've sent everywhere. Anyway, we hope to sell a few more then we sent about in the evening where we're there really interested and put behind annum what we can present today.

WIME: Have any labels been showing interest in you?
KREN: Not seriously, but we haven't sent it to any labels unless they have asked yet.
WIME: Because of a folk move to the demo's just because?
KREN: I think so yes. The old tracks are far behind what we can present today.

WIME: Personally did you end up being just satisfied with the demo? And what you'd like/dislike in it?
KREN: As first we're very satisfied I think about it, we played in some kind of recent rehearsal/zins in our goals not just for us but for our friends. So we felt good by cooking and sending songs kind of some ways, but there's always work as like as you sit back to care and so we did sorry. But I'm still that Kild, yet I'll to the wizards. It'll only work it happens around it this nothing behind our next demo.

WIME: Did you use the material from "LORDS OF TORMENT" when you waited for those 2 sessions, or which tracks/titles? new songs?
KREN: We're not recording. I cannot compare the old songs from The demo, 'cause it in general is much better structured. You see, by now we can use our experiences from the old demo, like hey, we ought to make heavier and more technical songs and that’s what I think the new songs are compared to the demo songs. The songs that we have ready by now are: "Ritual Journey", "Thus I Cry", "Destitude Of Compassion", and the newest one "I Fall In Temptation".

WTME: To me the death metal scene have for a very long time seemed to be almost nothing but one stereo-type band after the other, endless cloning and a profound lack of creativity and personality among the new coming bands, but finally it seems as things are getting more interesting and as the bands around are trying harder to come up with own personal style/sound. Can you share these views and how do you feel about the death metal scene in general ???

KREN: Well, it’s pretty hard for me to judge any new bands in the scene, 'cause I don't even got the time to hear about it in myself and I know how hard it is to come up with anything unheard. But in general I think you have to both looking at the members of a band and their personality. Personally, I’m looking at character and personality instead of the looks of a person, that’s why I’m to this band I'm personally thinking of CONFESSOR and SADUS ...

WTME: Which kind of bands inspires you to do the music you does, what are some of the styles and bands you're into ?

KREN: I’m inspired by most of the same styles like: PERSONAL PAIN, PANTERA, CONFESSOR, ATHEIST, NAPALM DEATH, SUFFOCATION, PARADISE LOST and more. For a while now, I’ve been much into SMUT. In my opinion, there are many other STROIDTH, PANTERA, DEICIDE, ATHEIST, MALEVOLENT CREATION, RAGING COPPERS, MORBID ANGEL and more. But it’s hard to say what exactly I’m inspired by.

WTME: On the lyrical side what does SACRIFICIAL deal with ? Give us some of the thoughts behind your lyrics.

KREN: Lyrics deal with all kinds of topics that I surely know a lot about. The lyrics for a song, I don’t always have words, but I’ve written songs from my private experiences and that’s why I write about truths a real person will like subjects, like drugs, oppression, isolation, religion and personal condolence. “Destitude Of Compassion”, which is one of our newer songs, deals about religious oppression and blind-obedience. If I may catch myself out writing about such topics... well, most of the times I once do. Well, I know myself, tell her about it. Here’s thought of what I mean and how to be with this own ideology of it following the ideas, you keep on mixing it in, so it won't just end to my lyrics, therefore sometimes things are discussed, and topics are dealing with myself and other people. And that’s exactly what makes interesting topics and makes it worthwhile overcoming world things instead of just dealing with very little distance to the subjects.

WTME: So how does the future look for SACRIFICIAL in your eyes? Are there any plans on a small DK-tour or anything ?

KREN: We'd very much like to do a small Denmark tour, but it's very difficult we find places where you can play like days a week in all over Denmark in 1 week. It's very rare that you can find a show in one night, pack in town playing the next so and so. If anyone would like to help us, feel free to contact us, OK?

WTME: There seems not many bands to make some more songs, pass out their following and maybe we could do it or sell more demos or not choose the stuff of all our songs actually and finish plenty of them, one time. Just be a little more self-reliant instead of depending on getting autograph. Why help for a cheap release while you making some time before you can expect much from this maybe years. You're someone that's developing on your next demo.

KREN: We try our best for ourselves. Thanks for taking us even Connected. The cost is 100 for Denmark and worldwide: 50 I-don't know exactly how SACRIFICIAL impressed. I think the North in far away future, see it’s including the world than the others it’s a great demo. Small influenced through our demo, you’re lacking 100kr (around Denmark). I believe this 2nd demo by EIDETIC came out around March '92 but still when it comes to delivering interest - ing music it's far from being worn out

So what have happened since their 1st and well acclaimed demo "Non Conspicuous Warning"? A rhythm guitarist have been recruited which gives a much deeper and complete sound compared to their debut. As a whole they have slowed down quite a bit, and in some ways they lacks the sparkling energy and "freshness" of "Non Conspicuous Warning" but on the other hand, what they have gained is much more. Today's EIDETIC has much more atmosphere and display a stronger musical expression.

If they were to add more aggression (trash?) no more could be done attempt -

worthy to evolve into a varve (!?) coupe.

Instead of such tone-finding EIDETIC tend to go on very fair - this is where they could improve most.

The otherwise consistent measures is now even better put together. Looking at composition they have matured since the 1st. Mortensen has now sounded much more natural, which I believe is due to the growth of his per - sonality as head of art (& music). keyboards he touches are solid! He puts a lot into it more than you would normally find and discover ways of shaping
"Mirror Passway", which comes with 2 - coloured cover, singer, gets it. Professional printed production! Sell for $6.00.

Musical Evolution: EIDETIC's Journey from 'Non Conspicuous Warning' to 'Mirror Passway'

Danish dark metal is for some reason a rare thing. GERONIMO crank out slow-  
driving, evil melodies but I feel the  
dark metal label is only a half truth,  
...GAWD BLESS! Due to the clear (and maybe too polished) production and  
their quite diverse structures and somewhat up-beat tempo they leaves out  
the tiresome monotony, but in places still does capture a bleak and anguished atmosphere. Overall this is not heavily impressing but songs like  
"Obtained Abnormality" and "My Lethal Conscience" does stand out with some strength. Offering some good, hard

Exploring Danish Dark Metal: GERONIMO's Unique Soundscape

NATIONS OF DEATH ain't offering anything that exceptional here on their debut demo titled "No One Is Divine," but still not a bad start at all. Musically OBITUARY influenced death-grind occasionally which means we are talking death stuff again. Also Rasmus does some hoarse and exhausted TARDY-ish like vocalizing. I find quite a piece of excellence but otherwise we must wait and see if these guys will be best with their mid-paced stuff, where Widowmaker comes to mind a couple of times. Or if they're at their best with some fast or slow parts. They still came across a tad more tight and effective/filthy in live action. So all in all worth having an eye peeled for and to give 'em your support.

Now on to one brief interview with vocalist/bass player, Rasmus Norup.

WITME: To keep up with the traditions we better start this interview off with you telling who you guys are and how you got this band started? For how long have NATIONS OF DEATH been a band?

RASMUS: We are four evil looking, long-haired sick fuckers, that's me (bass, growling, insane vocals and occasionally bass) Rasmus, Thomas (guitar), Jesper (drums), Keld (lead guitar!). We started up this line-up about 9 months ago and have since then become serious enough to feel like a well-functioning death metal band. Thomas and Jesper joined the band two years ago.

The band played under the name "No One Is Divine" when Jesper left for some time his army duties. We have existed since then. Our lyrics deal with cosmic religious absurdities as well as several serious events happening in our own insane society. 

WITME: Good info to have regarding the lyrics. What can you tell me about the title? What does NO ONE IS DIVINE mean to you?

RASMUS: Seeing the cosmic and religious absurdities in our society. Living in phonetic ways in modern industrial society. Seeing the cosmic or religious mysteries when witnessing crimes on the streets, obscenities in the news, and through our own perspective as death metal freaks for this humorous part of the universal absurdity we are floating in.

WITME: So what will be the next step for the band? Any gigs around? Or is there any label showing interest?

RASMUS: Next step will be to finish the DEATH BY DUSK-tape, yet relaxed in acoustic atmosphere with new tunes/New band which, when completed, will be released as a promo tape to send to labels we have currently mailed.

WITME: You are currently doing a bit of touring with a Danish death/thrash act DISASTER AREA, how has that been so far? How does NATIONS OF DEATH work together in a live situation and how has the audience been reacting? 

RASMUS: Headbanging our fucking skulls off. Have been such a hot experience so far and we enjoy it so much. They are an extreme powerful bunch and certainly love death metal and music. But until now we have done nothing that sounded lousy so things look good.

WITME: Have you decided the lyrical side of the music and what is inspiring the lyrics? You don't seem to go for the usual death metal lyrics?

RASMUS: I'm not into simple blasphering words which connects to the real world (not that old satanic slop-shit). Our themes and thinking are topics of the future vision of the dark side of mankind, the fate of the world. Goals to save humanity and how to solve the issues that are similar to us. So after all, the future looks inspirational to us in the world.

WITME: Music and what gives you musical inspiration? Which bands inspire you?

RASMUS: Influenced by many different things, among them death and dispassion, but death metal sound is inspired by DEICIDE, MORBID ANGEL, SUFFOCATION, AUTOPSY, TERRORIZER, MALEVOLENT CREATION, Obituary. And others. My band also takes influences from bands playing and different styles of music.

WITME: So there you have it. How have your own relations been with the other bands surrounding you? Has there been a problem with the guys this far? 

RASMUS: No, we haven't had any problems with other bands that much. We will work things out, though face-to-face arrangements can be difficult until further notice. We know they enjoy the music and we can like it together.

WITME: Closing the interview. Any remarks for readers and perhaps the future?

RASMUS: Reduce Earth pollution, stop violence, save the environment... work strong!
